Holosun cut — frequently asked questions

Which Holosun footprint do I need for my optic?
The 507c, 407c, and 508T all share the original Trijicon RMR footprint, so any of those mount on an RMR cut. The 507K, EPS Carry, and Shield RMSc share the Shield RMSc footprint — that's what you want for slim-frame guns. The EPS (full-size, not Carry) and 509T use their own enclosed-emitter footprints. If you tell us your exact Holosun model when ordering, we'll mill the correct cut.
Why cut for an enclosed-emitter optic like the 509T or EPS?
Enclosed-emitter Holosuns are the most reliable carry red dots on the market — sealed against lint, sweat, and shotgun-shell debris that kill open-emitter optics. They've also got the largest footprint family, so the cut requires precise alignment. We mill the 509T and EPS to factory tolerance with a sealed perimeter, so the optic seats flush and stays sealed.
Can you cut a slide that already has an RMR cut for a Holosun 507c?
If your slide already has an RMR-pattern cut, you don't need any work — the Holosun 507c, 407c, and 508T mount directly to an RMR cut with no modification. If your slide has a different existing cut and you want to convert to Holosun, contact us first. Conversions depend on the original cut depth and footprint.
What's the difference between a Holosun 507c v2 and 507c X2 cut?
There isn't one — both are the same RMR-pattern footprint. Holosun's v2 and X2 nomenclature refers to internal optic generations (different reticles, brightness, battery options) but the mounting pattern is unchanged. One cut fits both.
How long does the cut take?
7 business days from when we receive your slide to when we ship it back. We send a prepaid USPS Ground Advantage label the moment your order is placed. Total door-to-door is typically 10–14 calendar days depending on USPS speeds in your region.
Do you mill for the Holosun AEMS (rifle red dot)?
Our slide milling service is specifically for handgun slides. The AEMS is designed for rifle and shotgun mounts, not pistol slides. If you're looking to mount a pistol-pattern Holosun on an unusual platform (e.g. PCC slides, KelTec PMR-30), contact us first to discuss feasibility.
