The Leupold DeltaPoint Pro stays popular with shooters who've tried the RMR and decided they want something different. The DPP's rectangular window is wider in the horizontal axis than the RMR's near-square window, which translates to faster target acquisition for some shooters — especially in dynamic or hunting use cases where the target may be moving across your field of view.

The DPP also sits lower on the slide than an RMR — typical Glock factory iron sights provide an absolute co-witness through the bottom edge of the DPP window, vs. needing aftermarket suppressor-height sights for the same effect with an RMR. For shooters who want sights as their backup without changing factory irons, that's a meaningful difference.

DPP cut — frequently asked questions

What's the DPP footprint and what optics use it?
The DPP (DeltaPoint Pro) footprint is Leupold's pistol red-dot mounting pattern — two screws spaced 0.748" apart with a single locating pin. The Leupold DeltaPoint Pro and DeltaPoint Pro NV are the primary optics, and the Shield SMS / RMS / RMSc share a similar footprint family with the right adapter. Burris also uses a DPP-compatible pattern on their FastFire 4. So one DPP cut gives you optic flexibility across Leupold, Shield, and Burris.
DPP vs. RMR — which should I get?
Pick the cut that matches the optic you want to run. The DPP is lower-profile (sits closer to the slide), has a wider rectangular window than the RMR's square window, and uses Leupold's MST (motion-sensor) battery management. The RMR has a more durable enclosed body, a longer track record on duty guns, and a bigger third-party ecosystem (Holosun 507c, 407c, etc. are all RMR-compatible). If you specifically want the DPP, get a DPP cut — they're not cross-compatible without a non-trivial adapter that defeats the point.
Can you cut my slide if it already has an RMR cut?
Generally not — the DPP screw spacing (0.748") is narrower than the RMR (0.871") so you can't widen an existing RMR cut into a DPP cut. We can sometimes mill a DPP into a slide that has only the RMR optic-pocket recess (no screw holes drilled yet) but it depends on the original cut depth. Send a clear photo of the existing cut before ordering and we'll confirm.
Do you co-witness the rear sight with a DPP?
By default we retain the factory rear sight in its original location. The DPP has a low enough profile that suppressor-height factory rear sights (Glock MOS, Sig X-Carry, etc.) provide a clean lower-1/3 co-witness with the DPP dot. If you want a custom suppressor-height sight installed at the same time, or the rear sight relocated forward of the optic, both are available — note it on your order.
How long does the cut take?
7 business days from when we receive your slide to when we ship it back. We send a prepaid USPS Ground Advantage label the moment your order is placed. Door-to-door is typically 10–14 calendar days.
Is the DPP footprint priced the same as the RMR cut?
